Pennsylvania auditor general calls for financial literacy in public schools
At Martin Luther King High School in Germantown on Thursday, DeFoor was joined by school officials, community activists and political leaders as he extolled the virtues of teaching Philadelphia’s young people financial literacy. He singled out the work that the organization Philadelphia Financial Scholars (PFS) has done to add these kinds of courses to curriculums in the Philadelphia School District.

Citywide Business Pitch Competition Showcases Entrepreneurial Talent Among High School Students in Philadelphia
Philadelphia Financial Scholars, a nonprofit organization partnering with high schools to provide high-quality personal finance and entrepreneurship education, is excited to announce its Citywide Final Business Pitch Competition on Friday, April 28th from 10AM – 11:30AM at 201 Rouse Boulevard at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. Last week, panels of local business leaders and entrepreneurs selected six finalists at competitions across the city. These six finalists will compete for a $1,000 investment in their business idea.

Philadelphia Financial Scholars To Be Recognized as Eagles Community RedZone Organization During NFC Championship Game
Philadelphia Financial Scholars will be acknowledged by the Eagles as one of three Community RedZone organizations at the NFC Championship game at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday, January 29, 2023. The Eagles’ and Philadelphia Insurance’s Community RedZone program highlights the work of charitable organizations. Throughout the season, organizations are highlighted at each Eagles home game and given the opportunity to help spread awareness to Eagles fans of the work they’re doing in the Greater Philadelphia area to help make a difference.

Philadelphia Financial Scholars honored by Money Management Institute’s Opening Doors Awards
Philadelphia Financial Scholars, a new 501(c)(3) with a mission to help Philadelphia high school students and their families develop wealth-building tools, was recognized by the Money Management Institute (MMI) at its inaugural Opening Doors Awards ceremony. The Opening Doors event supports the work of MMI and the Gateway Foundation to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion within the financial services industry.
