Become a Volunteer

Philadelphia Financial Scholars brings resources and talent from the financial services community into our city’s classrooms. We coordinate with volunteers and sponsors to create high-quality engagement opportunities with our partner schools.

We have 3 main opportunities for volunteering with PFS this school year:

1.  Classroom Guest Speaker

  • 1 hour time commitment
  • Share topics of expertise that align with our curriculum
  • Can express geographic & day/time preferences

2.  Entrepreneurship Thought Partner

  • Join PFS for a full day event in late January (date TBD) or serve as a school partner “Phone a Friend” (remote & in-person available) for students working on their business plans, business pitches, and presentations afterschool from October - January
  • Format of January event:                                      i. Morning will be spent working with students to put finishing touches on their business pitch presentation      
    ii. Afternoon will be spent supporting students in a multi-round Business Pitch Competition

3.  Teen Investors Summit Volunteer

  • Join PFS for a Teen Investors Summit event in late March (date TBD)
  • We’re looking for presenters and panelists to share knowledge with students on areas of expertise (i.e., Creating a Diversified Portfolio, Growth Investing Strategies, Principles of Value Investing, Introduction to Stock Markets, Understanding Bonds and Fixed Income, Mutual Funds and ETFs, Global Markets and International Investing)
  • We’re also looking for “Phone a Friend” volunteers for teachers (remote & in-person available) as they support students in a month-long investment portfolio challenge competition
